Miami Protest footage on camcorder.
Oxford Ohio--Students protest in response to the administration's decision to hold classes despite a tri-state energy crisis. Roughly 3,000 students eventually spill into the street, shutting down US-27.
Chants of "Defense" and "Please don't taze us" were pretty intense.
Miami students crack me up... they will stand in line for an hour for free burritos from Chipolte.... but if they cant wash their abercrombie and they think their hair looks bad they will hide away for days... lol ... that power outage did suck... but people DIE in wrecks trying to get to miami on days when there is a inch of ice on the roads... Miami never shuts down... they make their own power AND sell it to the power company... so have another drink on daddys dime!

When I was a student there in the late 1980's, something similar happened in front of the President's House (Paul Pearson).

What do you expect? Miami didn't cancel classes the afternoon of Sept. 11th, when many students & faculty had loved ones they couldn't get in contact with in NY & DC on that fateful day. My lovely prof actually held us in class for the full 1 45 min and then the following week proceeded to defend the terrorists, saying they needed to use our planes to make their point because they were too poor to supply their own. Gotta love all those lovely commie professors hiding in their ivory towers.

And what is with all of the high school basketball chants, I half expected to hear "dribble, dribble, dribble, PASS!, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, PASS!, dribble, SHOT!"

I am glad I wasn't there. Seeing this makes me ashamed to be a Miami student. You are at Miami to get an education. If the university determines that classes can be held...GO TO CLASS!!!

3,000 people protest going to class...yet when I went there and bombs dropped on Iraq...maybe 20 did. What a joke. Losers.

Yes, classes should have been canceled, but this dumbass "protest" took away fire, police, and medical personel from people that truly needed it! So you had to go to class! So the fuck what? Instead of pulling together in a crisis like a community should, you made an already bad situation even worse! Try telling someone who relies on medical equipment to stay alive, or a single parent family that lost all the food in their refrigerator that you're protesting because you had to go to class!

You have war, hunger, homelessness, child abuse, rape, murder,.....do I need to go on? I don't think I could be more dissappointed in the students that took part in this most idiotic display! While I most definetly do not believe this most moronic abuse of free speech reflected the view of the majority of the student body, it definetly gave it a black eye! The majority of people I saw weren't protesting a social injustice, they were acting more like a "Girls Gone Wild" video! Selfish bastards!

Not a "protest" by any means. I was there. They were yelling for "Pizza!".
