after reading dozens of comments posted on various videos on this song, it really seems that this is a cocaine-related song, Gaudio used a promo-cover story about losing virginity which was more acceptable than doing coke; also the way the song is presented in other vid's, it does not seem like a "romance" event. "why'd it take so long to see the light, seemed so wrong but now it seems so right" moral perception has changed which would not really happen if it was a sexual experience
