I play Irish and folk harmonica, but having listened to so much Noel Hill lately, I thought I'd get a concertina and give it a go....
The concertina was £69 NEW! on Ebay....cheap chinese rubbish....huge size....out of tune....unresponsive and dull reeds...terrible paper bellows...valves seem to have been cut from a pair of old cowboy trousers!!.....the list could go on.
But as a tool to start on it's better than nothing....imagine how fantastic it will be when, if ever, I can afford a decent instrument.
As an instrument, I can see how easily it is to become obsessed about (as many players and fans seem to be)
For me it's like having 3 harmonicas in one box, very cool. The basic scale patterns are the same as on a harp as well.
I look forward to the long and winding road ahead.
Thanks for looking and listening.
