This is a taste of the new band at rehearsal for 2011 "Sweet Tooth/Power Rock Tour". The original version of this song was recorded in 1979 for "The Bells". I'm very glad that 30 years later, Lou Reed has decided to resume that particoular sound that his albums had from 1976 to 1980. I think that was the greatest period of his career (excluded Velvet Underground, obviously). The band will follow Lou in his "Sweet Tooth Tour" is composed by:

Sarth Calhoun - processing, fingerboard continuum
Kevin Hearn - Keyboards
Ulrich Krieger - Sax
Tony "Thunder" Smith - Drums
Rob Wasserman - Bass Guitar
Toni Diodore - Guitar
Thomas Aram Bajakian - Guitar, Violin

The complete version of this song (12 min) can be listened at loureed.com.

  • MASTER OF PUPPETS IT SOUNDS TOO DIFFERENT TO THIS NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

  • One of my favorite Reed tracks, and this is a great interpretation.

  • Lous voice rough and raw is what makes these songs TODAY... and suggestions that he needs to stop are ridiculous... yes he aint the rock and roll animal any more... but the old fart kicks the shit outa his songs like none of the bands today have a clue how to do.....

  • But maybe he is just kidding, finally. hahahaha!

  • Beautiful song! and the " Tutututudu Tututuduuudu Oh baby all throu-ought the ni-i-ight!" makes the song really deifferent, like understand the sense, real.

  • @sankkaboy

Odd you would say that as I was recently saying that he sounds better than he has for years - he's sort of singing again, rather than just reciting the words....

  • in live the song is very very powerful. The sax is remplaced by a guitar, and they slighty transfer dominant sound from a guitar to another, and this is so cosmic. But the song is then expanded and the second part really sucks. Lou has lost his voice and it's a shame to see him trying to keep up while he should stop.

  • Great performance! Great Lou Reed!
