The Time machine was produced in 1960
This sequence, set in the near future
(1966) appears to show the now
familiar wide/flat format screen
televisions that really only appeared
early this decade.
An accurate prediction only 30 or so
years to early.
Shortly after this sequence an
apocalyptic atomic war takes place.
Hmmm...

  • They also had flat screens in 2001 A Space Odyssey (ironically, they forgot this when they did 2010: The Year We Make Contact).0

  • Yep, I caught that as well and noted it in another posting of the movie. It's fun to think that they were making an accurate prediction, but they probably were referring to a solid state TV rather than a non-CRT one. Then again, it does look flat and in the wide screen format...!
