Oakland Gang Injunction

February 18, 2010 -- Oakland City Attorney John Russo and Police Chief Anthony Batts announce a new tool in the fight against gang violence.
The City Attorney and the Chief talk about a civil lawsuit seeking an injunction against a violent gang responsible for drug sales, robberies and numerous acts of gun violence in North Oakland.
A gang injunction is a court order that restricts the activities of gang members withing a specified area called a "Safety Zone."

The Cops Wont Walk Through Oakland Streetz Without A Gun They dont even go through certain neiborhoods without backup and since we got to live here and they dont we got to make it as safe as we can for ourselfs. plus look up oakland north oakland aint even the worst part its 1 of the better parts

AND IF YOU THINK THEY CAN Your mistaken everything is kept under tight watch and with gang injuctions it just puts guns in 1 people's hand and take away from another all it will mean is more people from that area will be murdered and i see it like this whats so diffrent about the gangs in the streetz and the u.s army they invaded another country because something they wanted and invaded another because of what somebody said i from oakland and if your going to be in oakland you need a gun.

they said that north oakland gangs have been either suspect or victims with more victims there will be more suspects. with that being said if you talk about the killings people do you should have to talk about the killings police do. and no i dont belive in taking away people civil rights. and think where are they getting the drygs from and how they get to the hood its all controled by the higher ups of the people yall are looking at dont no citizen got access to sneak drugz in america.

ima say this i dont belive in senless killings senless but even in the bible days there were revenge killings and other types of killings but a sensless killing is like killing somebody because of a penny or a shoe smetin like that. with that being said know why the person was killed because some people grieve diffrent so 1 death will bring another but you have to wonder why people in a certain area or city is doin wat they do.

im form oakland too and yes we do got gangs. they dont act like L.A gangs with the "all for one and one for all" code, most are just hustlers. and nso north side oakland is a gang, being a resident you should already know about 61st st, bushrod park, gaskill st and mlk those are gangs areas bro...but ill agree with you other than the hills and piedmont, north oakland is probably the nicest part

I think ignacio de la fuente should stop blaming people and man up.  He is supposed to be protecting oakland and fruitvale district, but his son is in jail for raping and beating up underage girls in the fruitvale district. Thats not a good father.

For the people who oppose the injunction, I just don't get how they think preventative measures primarily aimed at teens are enough to deal with the criminals who are adults and have lived this terrible lifestyle for years. Johnny the 30 year old gangbanger isn't going to be going to the rec center anytime soon, that's for sure. I think people need to wake up and realize that we need to prevent more kid from joining AND use these injunctions to stop the people who are already too far gone.

You guys know its alot of nice houses in North Oakland and You feel like certain people and issue lower property value. With the city being in its economic situation its in right now. You know theres alot of profit that can be made from this area. So what do you do? Make a Gang Injuction to stop people from loitering and hanging out. Rather its their Family house passed down for generations or not. It looks bad with all the crime going on too. their not worried about citizens safety its about $

I think Yea you're brainwashed either by the media or your own personal experiences, beacause You totally misunderstood my comment. In North Oakland There are no gangs. There arent organized gang heirarchy like the Crips and Bloods in L.A that Cheif Batts is used to. A freind of mine is on the list. When he went public about it. they said thell take him off the list if he move out of the hood. gentrification
