I'm glad they didn't do phase 2.... 70's TV sci fi was garbage. The hairstyles would have never held up (in TOS at least most of the men's hair holds up over time because they had shorter hair) The music prolly would have been crap...would have been like Dr Who. We ended up getting the best of both worlds,,, some good TOS movies, and TNG, which somehow managed to capture lightning in a bottle like TOS did.
And we did pretty well w/out phase 2 in getting most of the movies (most held up well over time), and then DS9 & Voyager. (The only one of the shows in the franchise that I have a little problem w/ is Enterprise).
I agree with you on The Motion Picture, but it did spawn the huge movie franchise. They actually did start Phase 2 in 2006. Go to StarTrekNewVoyages. They made all new star Trek Episodes with the TOS sets in the TOS universe, with 3 cool new actors portraying Kirk Spock and McCoy. Thier mission is to create season 4 and 5 that we never got, The shows look hot. Walter Koenig and George Takei are actually guest stars in 2 of these episodes. Go downoad and check them out tell me what you think :)
Takei and Koenig (nice last names btw) are out of work actors without much else to do professionally. Notice how they changed EVERYTHING from the first film to the Rath. The Rath had adventure, humor, action, all the things they missed when they thought the ship itself was the star, but it wasn't.
