I went to 5 Belly Dance Teachers before Amira Mor & was pretty miserable. THANK GOD I FOUND AMIRA! She doesn't claim to be a BD purist..Has her own style~I can watch her for dayyyyysss..We have so much fun in her class & we get to perform in fabulous extravaganzas....Ahhhhh I adore her!

Hi there! She has her own style. I'm sure she has built a reputation & a following. She has the glamour that a lot of people like. Some of the moves are a little big & I think it could have a "Latin" flavor,maybe some Lebanese.The Egyptian style purist would say the moves are too much. The control of the hip IS NECCESSARY & according to some purists, the art & sensuality is conveyed thru strong, but minimalist moves mixed with the dancer's facial expression & feeling. (I guess I'm a purist :?

EthnicArts if there's such a thing as belly dance troll it is you. I've seen many of your comments but rarely see you do anything but whine about untalented the dancers are.

It seems "authentic" belly dancing varies from person to person based not so much on actual authenticity but more on their own personal preferences.

TCerbie, a friend of mine has taken her classes in NYC and liked her a lot and bought her dvds. that s why i watched them.
I m sorry to say, but for anyone who knows authentic bellydance, Amira might be beautiful and sweet personality, but she s a very bad bellydancer.
none of her choreographies get the essence of bellydance, nor do her live performances.
she s doin brazilian and mostly jazz dance, with very few bd moves, waaaay too much hair tossing. it looks bad. it s not bellydance.

She does a lot of swing her arms around and swishing her skirts. That's why she loves those scarves.
