The Harrisburg Line is just a magnet to stellar consists and some rare power sightings. In this video, you will see a GP38-2 leading a coal train, a pure EMD/Slug light engine movement, a train with 6 engines including yard/switcher power, all EMD consists, "foreign power", and my favorite, a rare still-in-Conrail blue SD70, one of only 2 left!

The setting is April, and typical weather of that month takes place throughout this video. It isn't my kind of weather, but my camera keeps filming.

501, exConrail power, including a rare event of a GP38-2 upfront, throttles hard to bring the empties uphill into town in the rain.

A short time later 34A, with a variety of power in-tow, sails westward at a good clip, the oddity on the leader is it has a P5 horn.

...meets 33A with a leader that left my heart pounding, I knew I had to chase! One of only two remaining blue SD70's!

While on our way down to Wyomissing to meet up with 33A again, who was waiting for traffic, we stop by the station for a NICE EMD 19G.

So yeah... we caught up to 33A at Wyomissing, missed 38G at Leisey (but oh well), and got 33A again up on the "Low Grade" at Laureldale, entering the Reading Line to Allentown.

Even at night, the great stuff doesn't stop, in fact, that is when most of the epic stuff runs. 69Q with a clash of eras, a Conrail veteran leading newer UP AC's.

  • Dude, this is one awesome video. Where did you take this (name of town), I have to go there!!! 5* and a favorite.

  • The names of the towns are in the subtitles, next to the train symbol. I hope that helps. I've started to feature the subtitles in my latest videos to help viewers see the engine numbers and location without having to search for it in the discription, although, the description has good info as well.

  • Say o00o00ozy does UP And BNSF Have Tracking Rights To Onto Norfolk Southern Railroad.......

  • No.

  • 2:32 - 2:40 That screeching can't be good (?)

  • I'm not sure what caused it, except maybe that they were new wheel sets and breaking in the flanges. Typically on tight curves they make that noise... not on a wide radius like in this video. It's not the first time I've heard that through here, usually I hear it on spine-cars.

  • 5:31 I definitely jizzed when I saw that it was unpatched<3

  • Ow, sounds like some squealing axleboxes at 2:30. Some nice horns there, I must say.

  • I love seeing all the Conrail engines in your videos. I wish they would reissue them.

  • How is 2726 an SD70M-2? It looks like an SD70ACe.

  • 2574 has an amazing sounding horn!! Sounds like a K5LA and K5H hybrid!

  • Sweet footage, Eric!

  • Goodbye 2574....now in horsehead.

  • If you read descriptions on some railfans videos, they may name the horn in the description, that's how I learned, by reading and studying the different sounds after reading descriptions.

  • how do you know alll the horn sounds and stuff is there a good site i can go to so i can learn what horns sounds like whaAAt/

  • Ha! I love it. After the inter-modal, the people creep up to the crossing and 33A comes rolling around the bend. Classic moment us railroaders live for.

    Nice video.
