At last...... After nearly a year, I have finally got back into spriting!

Holy mackerel.... Where the heck do I even begin?! Well, first off..... I like to thank to everyone who has been waiting so patiently for a new video to arrive! Sorry to keep you all waiting!

Alright, now let's get down to business. This idea that I thought up of actually took place before this contest before it was officially announced, but I never really got around to it until this contest went up of course.

Now about the sprite itself..... At the moment, I'm not really too fond about the sprite at this time, because it is not quite as smooth like what I did with the others. Also this is my first (partly) polygon shaped sprite and in my opinion the most complex sprite I've ever done. What I meant by 'polygon shaped' is.... well, take a look at Porygon for example, and you'll probably see why.

Uh..... That's all I can say at the moment......

  • Ashadow, this is an impressive sprite, there is no doubt about that,

but in your video, it is clearly stated that the category was to create a pokemon sprite based off of an inanimate object.

Shouldn't a pokemon sprite be required to fit in the maximum box size for w/e the black and white generation limit is?

I like the sprite, as a sprite, throwing a magikarp on it however, does not make it a pokemon sprite. :/

  • @twoohfive205 I appreciate your surprising criticism. I'm even starting to think that I put a little too much effort into it.......

But thanks anyway. I really appreciate it.

  • 8/5/2011? that means... AUGUST

  • @MFbrawlerBey Actually, this was made in 8th of May.

  • @twoohfive205 I agree completely.

  • this is epic and can you enter my competition

  • @pokemaster1636 the appearance of "Better", when in actuallity, it takes less skill to make a more impressive large sprite than it would be to make an impressive "sprite sized" sprite.

By Sacrificing the time needed to add those details that are only capable in large sprites, the creator gains the ability to add an illusion that indicates greater spriting skill.

  • @pokemaster1636 fitting a large amount of details into a small space. Making the sprites larger does two things:

    1. it makes adding much more details a lot easier, because there are now actual pixels to work with

    2. It gives the apperance of a better sprite than it actually would be, because of those extra details

if this were shrunk down to actuall sprite size, it would be much more impressive if it were to retain at least some of its detail. However, making larger sprites gives

  • @pokemaster1636

I didnt say it was bad, not at all, it is very impressive actually, the problem is, it isnt a "pokemon"

I know a lot of spriters have moved away from making pokemon, but this was designed to be an "inanimate object pokemon" Inanimate object yes, pokemon no.

I am also going to state that i am no longer a fan of the overly large sprites, it takes out part of the challenge, one of the reasons spriting is unique and different from actuall art, is because of the difficutly of

  • NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!!It doesn't matter if he used a magikarp!if he uesd a magikarp it counts as a half scratch and real pokemon sprite combination......I think it's the best scratch sprite ever!!

  • kool a literal fish tank :D
