  • ok, if i start either a slice or a chirp in their second half, they will be opposite to how they start in their first half. Meaning second half of chirp would be starting closed. And second half of slice would be starting open. Either way i disagree with what you said previously as there is only 2 directions you can execute the chirp scratch, and that is either starting in the first half of the cycle (open), or the second half (closed). The opposite of chirping is slicing.and vice versa

  • that´s correct dude,

no problem- nice greetz from germ. alx

  • yeah I know the slice. A reverse slice is a chirp. And a reverse chirp is a slice. Thats the difference between the two.

  • no man!!!

you start @ the "slice" with a CLOSED fader

you start @ the "chirp" with a OPEN fader

  • lol a reverse chirp is a slice its that simple. I know you start a chirp open and that the first sound is like a reverse stab, but if you keep repeating the scratch it becomes a chirp, and vice versa for the reverse slice. Ah its all good, just trying to help, no need to get worked up :)

  • do you know a technic called "slice" (performed by dj rafik @ scratchlopedia) this is the reverse variation of this pattern

i understand what you mean but this is not the definition of this technic. i put a emphasis on da backward motion and this is the difference to a normal "chirp" (emphasis forward)

your definition would be correct when you say i start with the "second half" of a chirp

  • The first half of the chirp is the forward movement of the hand and the closing of the cross fader. the second half is pulling the record back and opening the fader

  • what I mean is that you have eliminated the first half of a chirp, and then started it on the second half.

  • no man, this is a reverse slice!!, look exactly to the video -i start with a closed fader!!!!!. it sounds comlpetly different to the reverse chirp.
