The American people have chosen a new majority in the House of Representatives. With their votes, Americans have been clear about what they want: more jobs, less spending, and a more open Congress that respects and abides by the Constitution. These priorities are embodied in the Pledge to America -- a new way forward that hasn't been tried in Washington. Enacting the Pledge will be the focus of the new Congress, and the goal of the transition will be to ensure the House is ready to begin implementing it in January.

The House of Representatives was intended to be the body closest to the people. We do a disservice to millions of Americans when bills are jammed through Congress with no opportunity for public scrutiny or serious debate. Americans should be allowed to read bills before we vote on them, and bills should be written publicly, by legislators in committee, rather than behind closed doors in the Speaker's Office.

Leader Boehner has pledged to run the House differently than it has been run by both Democrats and Republicans in the past â€" with respect for the American people, their intelligence, and their will. Central to that pledge is continuing to involve your ideas and input. The form below allows you to contribute to the forthcoming transition process. Please share with us your thoughts and visit this site for updates on transition efforts.

  • @Systemschaedling, we as Americans are free. we don't want the government requiring us to buy health insurance or be fined if we don't. It's a double edge sword, but it's what makes America, America.

  • @jfkjrlover

Please do then, we don't need or want people like you here anyway.

  • Garbage. So many people are facing difficult economic situation, one bill at a time? Please let go your ego, just release all information so people can find ways to handle their priorities instead of trapped by bureaus and party politics. 1% of the population taking 50% of wealth is going to get more severe.

  • It is crazy not to move forward with a joint and upgraded approach to turning the old into the new and forward looking country that made us the best system in the world.

  • @kuscheldrache I as an Armenian living here not as an American citizen, but as a legal resident, want to say to you that I have far more respect for Europeans than dumbass hick Americans. I hate the U.S. and want to move out as soon as I can afford to. I'm thinking of moving either to Germany or the UK. Americans are too ignorant to realize what is best for them and to realize that the wealthy elite are screwing them over.

  • @Systemschaedling Americans under 30 love Obama; it's the idiots over 30 who have been brainwashed from the time they were little to be afraid of socialism. They think America is the freest country but most have no idea what life is like in other countries because only 31% of Americans ever travels outside the U.S. to actually experience first-hand. The main reason Americans are so ignorant is because most lack education and knowledge of the world outside the U.S.

  • To claim victory due to the failure of others is hollow. To claim "the people have spoken" when it was billions (not millions) of dollars that got your respective behinds into those comfy seats. Certainly nothing to be proud of. Oh, lest I not mention the Tea Party. The noisy PAC that has no problem taking and never give. It's the baby boomers that will bankrupt us all. 78 million on the retirement rolls in 2011 alone. Children and grandchildren carry this burden for generations to come

  • I got a suggestion. Legalize weed. It saves the taxpayers lots of money. Oh, you didn't want to hear that? No full vote? Fuck you, hypocrite.

  • how many times squaws will a politician talk

before he takes the monies for himself

the answer my friend is blowing in the nuclear dust
