  • why protest the bank?

  • @underbird As she said, the action targeted B of A because of their repeated lack of response to many groups (including citizens' groups from affected areas) to stop giving billions of dollars of funding to large coal companies for their projects. Two of the biggest projects upcoming are going to negatively affect local people and areas. Other actions target other aspects of the projects.

  • @shanemayhem Its a bank not a charitable organization. It provides capital in order to make money, not to endorse some form of electricity. Why not protest the grocery stores where coal miners shop? Makes about as much sense. Why not protest yourself for using the coal. By posting this video with 900+ views you have encouraged the consumption of coal. So far its over 50 hours of computer running time.

  • @underbird Maybe you didn't fully watch it, but this isn't just a blanket protest of "coal," though certainly some people are against using coal for electricity, and would prefer a shift to something more sustainable. This is a protest of SPECIFICALLY two projects- the terminals in Longview and Bellingham- which Bank of America is funding. We are protesting the bank because the bank is funding those projects. Also, not all electricity is coal-powered, currently.

  • @devided1001 Still others might attempt to physically prevent the harm (in this case, the coal terminal) from being done. If you are actually interested in learning about the issue, rather than criticizing something you don't understand, I'd suggest reading up on some of the links posted here. If not, then continue to have a good day, in whatever way you do that. Thanks for viewing.

  • @devided1001 Each action or tactic has a slightly different purpose to the cause. For instance, in combatting something (like a bank that funds big coal) which has a disproportionate amount of power in comparison to yourself, there can be actions that are meant to make a splash and get media attention, to raise public awareness; other actions which may and often do happen concurrently target the law-making apparatus to challenge what is happening there.

  • @devided1001 I was hoping for some discourse that actually made sense. Bummer. I'm going to go ahead and guess that you don't get out much, or really do anything to effect change. Possibly you don't see the need for change. Hard to tell from this barely coherent paragraph. Anyway, there is quite a bit of theory behind various kinds of actions, actually.

  • Yep. The occupy croud are zombies

  • @shanemayhem NOPE IT'S THE QUESTION? THAT'S IT! The achievement would be something that has changed. This video is only opinion, so find some achievement & if you can't find it what are you going to do? Well what would be an achievement is 1st their is no institution only a TARGET! Understand! To combat what is going on you say? SO YOU WANT COMBAT? I'M NOT A COMBAT ENGINEER! BUT YOU NEED TO BECOME ONE THEN! THEIR IS NO THEORY BEHIND COMBAT ACTIONS. Use your brain & skill for achievement?

  • @devided1001 I guess I'm wondering at your question. Are you asking, or wondering? Or are you opining? Either way, I guess my question would be, what would you see as an achievement against such an institution? How would you use what you have at hand to combat what is going on? Not asking rhetorically; I'm interested in your answer because I'm interested in the theory behind many different types of actions.
