@GuitarGodAG lead what? lead electric guitar? I would say learn guitar first, and then try bass. it will go along much easier. Also it seems easier, there's wayyyy less notes than in lead guitar. I've been playing guitar for 2 years, just got a bass yesterday and it feels like it will go along much easier then learning guitar. I am not really a lead player though, I prefer rhythm guitar- riffing that is. I cant play solos for life.

@GuitarGodAG Something that I have learned from years of playing is that people respect someone that'll take the time to play the bass than show off as a guitarist. There have been many instances where someone is shredding to death on a guitar but people left his side of the room to come see me play some simple but tasteful melodies. After a while, lead gets old. Rhythm is forever.
