The 14th Street Bridge linking Columbus and Phenix City was transformed into a giant outdoor cafe Saturday afternoon as hundreds of people broke bread together during the third Banquet on the Bridge.
Volunteers from about 20 different organizations prepared and served a variety of foods from potluck dishes to grilled chicken, hamburgers and Smores. The event draws from Luke 14:16-24 where Jesus uses a parable to encourage his disciples to share food not only with those familiar to them but also with the poor, lame and the blind.
