@jelswick2 with all due respect to you , I understand what you are saying but I don't really agree that its such a good idea , you may interpret these verses differently but Jesus told us to "spreed his good news to the ends of the earth" I think the work you can do in the local community is limited although very valuable, I think it should be every church vision to change there local community, city nation and the world. btw how are methodist churches run ?

@100hithere Thanks for the clarification. I see what you are saying. I think one of the reasons that you feel like you are not seeing a sea change from the Methodist church is because Methodists tend to work small. Methodism is based on the idea of small churches in communities who work as God's hands and feet at a grass roots level.

@jelswick2 As you know the start of the methodist church is widely credited to John Wesley. I tell you right now you cant work like that for God and not be completely filled with his holy spirit.When I look at the methodist church I think Its a church thats so hungry for that again, there are people within methodist churches today who have the potential to change this nation. The problem I have got is whys it not happening? I can only presume that it will happen soon , I hope this helps :)

@jelswick2 I had a feeling that as coming. See, I go to a church that plays contemporary Christian music, so I'm not totally against it. It is contemporary, but still distinctly Christian. I find that the music in this video is indistinguishable from the world's, and it is because "all that is in the world... is not of God." So its not "regardless" of what God likes, but it is BASED on what God likes. If you want to worship to this music you can, but I could never do it.

@patrckhh20 by your own argument, it shouldn't matter if you find this music pleasing or not because it's not intended for you, but for God. So when you deem a particular style of worship music to be inappropriate, you are then saying that "regardless of what God likes, I don't think think this music is good, or appropriate". As long as the song is created for the glory of God, why does it matter what style it is?

@patrckhh20 which leads to the question; under what Biblical authority do you get to determine what is or is not musically pleasing to the Lord? I also searched and searched and couldn't find it in the Bible where it said "patrckhh gets to decide what music is pleasing to God". Is your piety so great that you would presume to judge what is worshipful? As for deceiving people by making worship music in a style they enjoy, you defeat your own argument by saying this song isn't worshipful...

@patrckhh20 Sadly, your viewpoint represents a narrow, misguided, and uninformed view of the purpose of music and the intentions with which musical talent was granted to His people. I tend to prefer to be informed before I state my opinion, and in an effort to do so, I have searched far and wide to find what the Bible says about what styles of music are acceptable for worship and can't find anything that says only a certain style of music is pleasing to the lord...
