Larry Augustin co-founder of now defunct VA Linux Systems and the "Open Source Initiative" explains how at the start of his career spent literally days downloading GNU software from the Internet to use on the Sun computers he had available. Larry Augustin became one the people who started the "Open Source Initiative which deviates from the principles of the Free Software Movement the main one being the principle not to allow free(which means completely unrestricted) software part of proprietary software. Larry Augustin founded a company called VA Linux which went into the stock exchange with a lot of fanfare and caught the attention of Wall Street investors and a lot of money. Today his company is out of business due to enormous financial losses. This one company represents a good example of the Internet bubble that burst in 2000-2001.
