  • You make working with glass look easy. How would I start out learning this craft?

  • Probably the best way is to take a class if they are offered nearby. Or if you could hook up with a flameworker in your area to help you get started that would work great too. Once you learn the equipment and the basics you are off and running and can do your own thing.

  • right on! I use 9.5 heavy myself for wick holders. I got to do these on a lathe once, talk about fast! do you make your wick holders to hang the full depth of your oil candles or do you just make one size for all your lamps?

  • I make them 1/2 inch to 1 inch long. Then for stubby style lamps I use the short ones and longer/deeper lamps I use the longer ones. I'm also playing with 6 mm tubing that I can use 1/16" wick with. I just thing the thinner wick looks better.
