it's done as a joke... to make fun of the religious ceremony.
no one said it was about "getting wet" and the blow dryer is not about "getting dry".
it's all about the symbology of it all and how silly it is.

@thisguysajerk It was kinda implied wrt wet/dry, AFAIK. You don't have to say something to imply something. Unless of course whoever started it actually makes a statement to the contrary.
Also that last line was unnecessary.
Side note: I take computer science at university, and am a second year student. The nice thing about comp sci is that you can't just pull something out of your arse; you have to SHOW that it works.
