The Living Desert was established in March 1970 as a wilderness preserve in Palm Desert CA. Today it's one of the most unique places in the country and stands out as the only American zoo and garden dedicated solely conserving the deserts of the world. Here's a video of our day at the Living Desert. Check out the photo gallery here: http://www.desertonline.com/image-galleries/living-desert

honestly the best "zoo" i have ever been to. Not even a zoo really, it feels so natural, just like your smack dab in the middle of the desert.

I've seen cougar tracks on the mud plain in the reserve(before the so called reserve). I use to pick up bullets shot at the mountain in there too. General Patton and Bradley practiced desert warfare on the desert in the 1940's) This is before it became a Knots Berry Farm like zoo and tourist attraction. You once could find pieces of military gear there. Somebody had a quali guzzler there. Anyone know who put teh quail guzzler there?
