We at Tucson Trains and Games decided to build a new N-Scale DCC layout. We decided to put up a step by step video guide of our design and progress. If you have any question please feel free to contact us.

This is out first try at YouTube videos and we use a lot of Ahs and Uhms!

Have a great day!

  • how much would it cost to make a 4 x 3 ft layout for n scale and with some grass scenery and some track and about 4 engines and about 5 to 10 cars all together so how much would a modern n scale layout be?

  • @venusflytrap99 You would have to make some decisions on the configuration of the layout. A starter set from KATO with a oval track and power supply, an engine with three cars would run about $280 retail. It goes up from there with additional items. I haven't calculated it but I think I probably have between $600 to $700 of track and switches in this layout. You can see that it can get very expensive very quickly.

  • I really like the double stack track, where do you get that ? I've never it before any chance of you doing a close up of the curves ? Like your work ! Big"E".

  • @collinsup844 The double track is offered by KATO as invidual pieces or as box sets. The core of the layout is two of KATO box sets. They are the V11 Double Track Set and the V14 Double Track Inner Loop Set. They also make a elevated double track, V12 Double Track Viaduct Set and V13 Double Track Elevated Loop Set. These should be available at your local train store. If you can't find them locally I they are available for purchase from RTK Limited (Me). Pictures to follow!

  • Have your superelevated curves proven a problem when running freight equipment, such as SD80MAC's? As much as I love the curves, they are giving me absolute grief when I run freight locos. Constant derailments. When I run my Shinkansen Bullet Trains, they run flawlessly; no derailments ever! I've double-checked track sections where they join; have made sure easements are in the proper place; everything. I don't run diesels now because they don't negotiate the curves well. Any suggestions?

  • @TucsonTrainsnGames Yes, this will work for me, thanks so much for your response.

  • @Richard53625 I can send you a text file of the track pieces involved and a pic of the layout with track stock numbers on it. Would that work?

  • @MMODoubter I wanted a layout with a bit of character. I had gotten a set of the double wide tracks in for a customer and was intrigued with them because of the super elevated curves. On the back of the boxes it showed a combined track using both sets of the double track. They just showed it using one controller per track. Being a geek I wanted my trains to be able to go anywhere and to be able to have multiple trains on the track, hence the siding.

  • I really like the curved sides of the 'oval'. It is much more interesting than straight sides.

    Good video.

    Subscribed.

  • @TucsonTrainsnGames Love the layout, please send me copy of the layout by email: rham2@me.comI have a Mac. thus can't use Any Rail. thanks
