He's right about Apollo but if you look at the cross on the chariot and realize that Apollo was the son of Zeus who was the greek god ...Which is a symbol for the son of God. Finally Iconoclasm took Byzantium's innocence as a civilization.

I think the man's theory has flaws. In Eastern Orthodox Churches, practioners face away from the icons. The icons ultimately are symbols, not a link to God.

ah, byzantium - you have to weep for what once was, now only to be remembered in ruins and in dreams. thanks for posting this 2nd part of romer's superb documentary, brings back fond memories.
