This is just a quick response on making a fire in a wood stove. This is only one method to making a fire, and the way i do it, but by no means should anyone take just my advise. Sorry about my head being cropped. --- See part 2 for more.

  • nice stove. How hot does it get? I am looking for a small wood stove for my bugout location in the mountains. Is a 34' 5th wheel camper. plan on putting ( if it gets to the point that the location is used) where the dinning table and chairs are. Is it managable as far as heat output? Propane would run out in a week or so so wood stove best alternative. thanks

  • @stealinator

It will get pretty hot. I have had, by accident, it get red hot. It is a great little stove. It burns clean, hot, and maintains a constant temp really well. It is easy to load up and set the vent on the front and not have to touch it until it burns out. As far as putting it in a 5th wheel, I would not have any advice. You might give Jotul a call and see if is alright to do that. Good luck, if you get one I don't think it would disappoint you.

  • Hi, can you tell me how many sq ft this stove can heat? I'm in anchorage and freezin! thanks

  • @Bparkeraw

I believe it is suppose to heat 900 sq ft. I am using it to heat my 650 sq ft shop with out any problem. It will crank out the heat for sure.

  • I believe the 602 calls for a 6 inch stove pipe but I think it looks so disproportional to the small stove - your vids show what looks like pipe smaller than 6 inches - Can you tell me what size stove pipe you are running?..thanks.

  • @jamm900

I believe you are correct. The cast iron flue collar is really 4-5" in diameter, but they include the reducer so that you can connect the 6" pipe to it. I am using 6" pipe on this stove and in the videos. There is a roof kit that goes through the ceiling and then through the roof. The black pipe runs up to that and then goes to a double walled insulated stainless steel 6" pipe. Hope that helps.

  • Thanks for all the advice. I have a bigger multifuel stove (Nestor Martin Harmony 33) and it takes a long while to start cranking out the heat. It has detachable metal panels all around the inside which create a double glazing effect and seem to keep the heat in. Even when it is roaring it takes about 45 mins before the top is too hot to touch. It then takes around two hours to heat the whole 450 sq ft room. Does this model have detachable inner walls?

  • if that isnt the cutest stove ive ever seen...i could just eat it lol not really

  • @haydenstover

That depends on where you live I guess. I just bought it at a local shop that sold the Jotul F602 CB. You would just have to call around to see who has them.
