Located in Darjeeling, West Bengal, the Toy Train runs on a two feet gauge for a distance of 86 km. The journey is covered in around 71/2 hours with the train having a maximum speed of 15 kmph. In the route, wherever there is a lack of clear cut path due to steep gradient, the climb is proceeded through reverses and loops. There are 500 bridges along with 177 unmanned level crossing through which the train travels. The train that first ran on the track was way too different from what it is today. It was a mini four-wheeled trolley with canvas and two wooden benches. It still uses steam locomotives. The Toy Train has also made it to UNESCO's list World Heritage site status recently.
