Rachmaninoff Suite No. 2 for 2 pianos, Introduction

This is a noon concert from October 3, 2001 in Hertz Hall at the University of California, Berkeley. The pianists are Annie Kuo and Tomas Ponce.

I believe Sergei Rachmaninoff wrote this piece at the same time period as the second piano concerto and his sonata for piano and cello. I heard that Rachmaninoff had just come out of a spell of depression from the unpopularity of his first piano concerto. Listeners may find similarities in the three pieces.
