Video report from the last couple of days on the flats, fishing with my friends and clients..

Bonefish?? Tarpon?? Permit???
It is a tough choice some times...The last week or so has been very warm with little or no wind. Glassy smooth conditions make it easy to spot rollers, tailers and wakers. How ever it can be very tough to present a fly to permit in these conditions... Yesterday we focused on tarpon..It was glassy smooth and cloudy, We lucked out and found large mat of floating grass covering several acres. In and around that grass was 3 foot tarpon attaching shrimp on the surface..
Today light winds out of the NW blew the clouds away and we had excellent visibility to sight fish. That and a falling tide on the gulf side made for a fun day with lots of shots at bonefish and permit. Fall is a great time to fish the Florida Keys.. It is "Off Season." No tourists, discounted rooms and rental cars.. Nobody on the flats.. Well, that is nobody except tailing permit, bonefish and rolling baby tarpon.

  • Now that's what I'm talkin about!

  • Took me 2 years of pretty much straight fishing before i found my main Tarpon spot. I can go there every day and hook a good 100+ #. It takes time, i gota admit.

Great Video man. Keep up the great work! Mabey ill see u out there 1 of thies days

  • Lilpedro fishing aint about a paying a guide to give you spots. You are right about the instinct go with it and learn about the water you are gonna fish. This kind off fishing is so hard it takes years to get a lunker if you you do it the right way by learning the water instead of just sitting on somebodies spot. Good luck.

  • niiice man ;) ive never caught red fish snook or bone or tarpon or permit lol . its msotly been spotted sea trout for me . :( o well man . you have the luck . and usually no one ever tells you any spots . everyones a jerk these days . you have to go on your own instinct . and were not paying thouts od dollars to go on a guide . thats too expensive ,
