Pans People edited/arranged to the late great John Martyns 'All For The Love Of You'. A re-upload. The 2 great things to come out of the 70s -John Martyn and Pans People, together at last!! The full version of Johns tune is not used-buy the album 'aint no saint' for that and full quality.

  • At 00:36 it is definitely Louise Clarke. I could never mistake her stoic beauty for someone else!

There are only five girls in this video: Ruth, Louise, Babs, Dee Dee and Flick. For one reason or another Andi is not there.

I must say the dancing is mesmerising. I wish more would see this video. Thanks for posting it.

  • @crimple7 Well I admit you've got me thinking now! (so its good Im not putting money on this as a bet!) You may well be right. But it's an *early Louise* if it is Louise, and I think this video dates from 1970. I like this dance because its relatively slow, unlike most dances they do..and you can also see that many of them are classically ballet trained also with the control they are using (look the way esp Flick moves her legs and also Ruth).

  • This works fine for me. Didn't know the song before, so will have to check the album out.

Don't remember the "other" blonde dancer (ie not Babs) so guess this must be a fairly early version of Pan's People. The still at the end is a bit odd 'cos it's not the same group ?

  • @GarJaMi Cheers for the comment. The album is 'Aint No saint'..a box set by John Martyn (died in 2009) and is a previously unreleased track which I personally love..the tonality is staggering, and a great piece of music also, in my opinion. The other blond dancers there...there were two..one was Flick (Colby)- who later became the choreographer, also Andrea (Rutherford). Ruth is the black haired one- & Im still smitten with!!). The pic is from a later time than the dance btway.

  • Just not the right song for what 'Pans People' do Mistakes happen.......check out other videos in a better perspective on what their all about.

  • @ziggycat999 It's true they never danced to this. As it happens, Ive seen ~ all PPeople routines, in the 70s & the vids. I tend to diagree with your conjecture that I've made a 'mistake' in combining two 70s English icons from that magical time I saw and heard. But, yes, not to everyones taste. Though I *myself*, would claim no absolute knowledge of what they 'should' dance to, I do know 3 of the Pans dancers views on what music they preferred to dance to. So, check out my 'small hours'+Pans!!

  • They're both very decent obsessions, man. I was around for the classic days of Pan's People. You've made the impossible come true!

  • Also very nice! For me, it is like a time jump into the seventies!

I was a little child at this time and heared probably some lullabies!

  • @crimple7 Hello. I agree that the two 'platinum' blondes there are Flick Colby and Babs Lord, but I still think that Andi is on that video (look at 00:36- I dont *think* its Louise - I could be wrong, but it still does look like Andi to me). She doesnt look v 'blond' here tho', granted.

Both videos you mention prob' do fit better, yes. The original is choreographed!

The other is prob edited much better.

But, a few folk, like me, love *this* music & Pans, from a magical time recalled 1st hand.

  • You're not quite right. The two platinum blondes featured in this particular video are Flick Colby and Babs Lord. Andi Rutherford, for some reason, does not appear@in the video. Maybe she missed the bus!

I must say that Sunlounger's "In and Out" suits this dance far better.

  • Someone said on a post -not this page- that 'Small Hours' was 'awful' (yes, they did!). Ralph McTell on the Johnny Too Bad documentary said 'If you dont like that (small hours)-if you dont find it beautiful, there's something wrong with you!' (paraphrased)

I tend to agree. Likewise, to be honest, this song!!

We must all be wired differently maybe.

Maybe some folk look at the Mona Lisa and think 'crap'..?!?
