no absolutely not, and that is where I think groups, like BASC and the GWCT can have a positive impact, moderating both extremist views to end up with a happy medium to which both can agree. management is all about making concessions and finding a medium, where it may not create ideal conditions for either, but conditions in which both can do equally well, though, without looking in to it I wouldn't know what those conditions might be
I'm afraid to say I disagree, I am on a BSc Conservation & Wildlife Management course, and as both a shotgun and rifle shooter and a keen rough shot, I must say that there is scope for both to exist. without one activity adversely affecting the other.
i would love to have a go at grouse shooting, but my pocket dictates that i must stick to pigeon , both birds very challenging

I agree both can exist, but not with groups like the RSPB throwing money at one (the raptors) while totally ignoring the other (the grouse)!?

Great to see this alas it may be athing of the past, the loonys think more about raptors and other birds of prey that the red grouse!
