That was the first trophy Arsenal won since I became an Arsenal fan. I was about 15 back then. That League Cup was a like fairytale, 1-0 down, 2-1 up becoming our motto. Especially during Arsenal's gutsy win over Spurs in semi over 2 legs + replay. And I firmly believe that League Cup victory have paved way to Arsenal's modern day success during the past 2 decades or so under both George and Arsene.
Yeah where is Rush's goal? From an Arsenal fan's point of view, every story needs to have the heartbreak first... It make the euphoria even better when it arrives.
Arsenal were simply better on the day.
I was a 12-year old Liverpool fan at the time, and even though we had our fair share of glory before and after that final, that last replay of the winning goal, with Brucie diving in vain to get the deflected shot, is etched in my mind.
i was at the top of wembley in the skylights you can see when they show the arsenal boys behind the goal one of the best days of my life up the arsenal
What a day that was. I was 15 standing behind the goal with a mate from school. Beating the best team in England of the time at Wembley and Charlie scoring twice was amazing. League Cup final was a big deal back then with English clubs banned from Europe.
i was there one of the best days of my life, and round the polar bear pub before hand leicester square, memories x
