  • @supersop Well its sad that it seems too many drumlines are putting way more effort and time into how they look(projecting their ego) rather than playing some good, consistent, rudimental notes. Id pick 1975 scv or 1982 bd over most Ive seen and heard in the past years.

  • 3rd snare in from the left is my drum tech now...fuckin A right.

  • dayummm BASS 5! beatin that shit up!

  • 92 was my first year involved in drum corps. Midwest - and, the dumlines were good (even Phantom...just behind the times). I did not see the Crossmen until DCI in Madison. A week after the end of that summer's DCI in Madison I realized that I was "hooked". The PBS broadcast only included final's top six full performances but, the segment that showcased semi-finals 7-12 corps showed the Crossmen's drum feature. I was watching that segment for probably the 100th time at the end of day seven.

  • @diallogordon They were def underrated, but they would've get 1st at Finals if their center snare didn't fake the snare feature...and get caught by the judge! Or was it 1991...? Anyways, 1990-1991-1992 Crossmen are by far my fav 90's lines ever! So tasty and beefy at once!

  • @skershaw2000 Yeah, one cant forget the names you mentioned also along with Bret Kuhn.I sure miss the cavies alot.I really do appreciate the extreme hard work and talent of todays lines but something is missing.I know when all is said and done the lines from back in the day will be the ones people still look up to,sit back and just say..damn!

  • @clayjn I agree... would be nice to once again see/hear lines like Thurston, Tom Float, Ralph Hardimon, Mike Back, Al Murray fielded... just drumming tasty beats, grooves with style, dead ahead stares and low controlled stick heights...

  • @multibuddhaneo Interesting... Fred Sanford and Tom Float, huh? Good taste brother! I loved the 90's, so much happening with marching percussion, but definitely owes it to the ones mentioned along with DeLucia, Hardimon, Hannum, Campbell.

Now it seems like everyone's drum book, tempo, visual, talent level, tuning, etc. are identical. I remember when each line had a particular flavor and style that you could recognize them. Still the lines and corps are outstanding today, its just different.

  • The Mark Thurston lines of Crossmen where so awesome, the fluid and powerful style. Balls to the walls man Ass kickery! It was inspiring. The fact you don't see that any more is total horse crap. This light and fluffy foofoo show designs are souring the gene pool and i wish DCI regrew a pair!!!

  • Holy Balls B5!! Beat that shit...

    BONES

  • "gotta be big--big as a house!"
