After many years of trial and error I like most pigeon fanciers have racked our brains on Keeping those hungry cats out of the loft, as I have my share of heartbreak at losing some great birds over the years, ive tried many different things some good some not so good. Over two years ago I came up with this one, I dont know if there is anything on the market like it, but it is the best thing in The loft Most of my stock are of retired white racing homers and now have the best life ,living like kings their work now is being white release doves at weddings ,funerals and many special events, so you can understand that the birds are home before I can get back to be sure they have safe entry to the loft. The beauty of my(one-way trap )is the cost and how easy it is to make, so if you think it is for you, then let me know, and I will do my best to draw a plan and sizes for you, what prompted me to post this clip? a month ago I happen to glance out of my window to see a cat get tangled in the trap, his only way out was backwards, and man he sure can move lol, dont think he will be back for a long time, a good result is not hurt birds or hurt cat.

  • Is it really totally 100% ? I just found out my LL owns a BB gun, and while his pigeons aren't flying right now, I am totally out of my mind, knowing, I, myself have lost cats to BB's in the past (not here... rumour has it, by a bad cop). I want to inform him of alternate ways to keep the cats out, or else I have to move, because I, in good conscious, can not and will not, live here knowing he does this !!!

  • @xFallenAnjelx You are obviously an cat lover, and thats cool, lucky for us in NZ we have strict gun laws, Thank god, you might want to leave a note in his letter box explain the next time a cat disappears , the local falconer may just set his sights on some certain pigeons, it not a threat just an eye for an eye.

  • The solution I came up with - I assigned a 'BodyGuard Cat' to my pigeon ! ....no cat or eagle are come near this pigeon !

See the video response I posted.

Nice trap door !! .....I'll try and build one too ! ....Thanks.

  • @kssohal I love your vid, looks like your cat is very safe from anything, with his own little minder with wings, your cat (Golda Singh) looks well loved, had many a good feed, COOOOOL pigeon.

  • Hi dobeblessingsDOTcom, I am impressed with your anti Cat flap... any chance you can send me some ideas on how to put one together ?... All the Cats in my area are starting to treat my house like a Drive-Thru McDonalds, with MC-PIGEON a favourite on the menu !

  • @MultiCameraman Hi Multicam, its no fun feeding your birds and the local cats too,

Since I posted my cat proof trap, I have built a better one as you can

Install it just about anywhere and with the flip on the dropper part

It allows the birds to come in our out with %99.99 safety, I will be making

one soon for another part of the loft, I will post pics and sizes as I go,

For now look at it, the clip is called, Old fashioned Scottish pigeon trap door.

    Cheers Stu.

  • I don't see how will the trap door would stop a cat from coming into the cage.

  • @habrisaad hit me with those plans thanks

  • Fantastic idea! What about foxes? I have foxes, bob cats, racoons, and ringtails where I live

  • yeah, or you could just kill cats, they will get the idea eventually

  • why all your pigeons are white

  • is it legal to have pigeons in the state of california?

  • nice pigeons.

  • where do you buy that at i want to start but i dont have a place to keep the pigeons in?

  • @doveblessingsDOTcom

...Making the whole world blind...Your trap door solution seems much easier, producing fewer enemies, reducing everyone's stress. A win-win solution, well thought out. You ever think about a career in politics? :) There are deeper lessons to be learned from this. Thanks so much for posting. Bright blesings!
