Total lunar eclipse of June 15 2011 over the Acropolis.

Although it was cloudy till well after moonrise, it turned out pretty clear for the whole totality and second penumbra phase.

  • In the APOD image, Scorpio is shown stationary as the moon passes in front of it. How did you do that?

  • @spudzwon The image is a composite. It is comprised of a static background on top of which several shots of the moon (each in its original position) have been superimposed. So the only element that "moves" is the moon.

    Impressive observation btw :)
