Supervisor Mary Ellen Heyman fails to warn of the dumping of Raw Sewage

This video shows the mechanism and tunnel where Raw untreated sewage is released during heavy rains. This has been reported to happen up to 11 times a year.
When the storm water mixed with raw sewage reaches capacity at Van Lear Sewage Treatment plant they shut off the intake at Van Lear and open the series of gates at Densmore creek and Tryon Park to let off overload from the main sewer system. The mixture of Raw Sewage (black water) and storm water mixes together and is released in the millions of gallons down the ravines and into Irondequoit Bay via Densmore Creek and Tryon Park into Irondequoit Creek which feeds directly into Irondequoit Bay. This presents a serious health hazard to the community and can cause Hep A, and many other illnesses which can be very harmful to residents who swim or recreate in or near the bodies of water. The cancerous chemicals that mix in the raw sewage can cause cause long term health issues and contributes to the decline of Irondequoit Bay. Of course the wildlife and migratory waterfowl are negatively impacted.
This routine dumping of Raw Sewage which consists of Human Fecal Matter, urine, blood, tampons, condoms, toilet paper, pharma drugs, pesticides, gas, oil and other harmful liquids has been going on for over 30 years and is common knowledge in many departments in the County and Irondequoit.
Notice how high the gate/door is, and I am six feet tall. The amount of waste and sewage released at one event must be staggering. I call on Maggie Brooks and Mary Ellen Heyman to address this problem head on and try and tap into the Great Lakes initiative to secure funding to find a solution to this problem.
