Bring your spirit of generosity to a new performance installation by Andrea Bowers and Suzanne Lacy. Along with previous work, the artists present a new collaboration, a performative collection point for discarded clothing and small household appliances. This exhibition will be their first collaboration, one that signals a re-engagement that younger feminists seek with the legacy of the previous generation of feminist activists and artists. Your bags of stuff will be transformed in Riverside, California. They will be cleaned, ironed, repaired, and prepared for their distribution as part of a barter economy established by the artists and Otis College of Art and Design students in the small farming town of Laton, California. Donations are accepted during gallery hours, but special focus is on the Reception and Artswalks featuring a do-it-yourself repair team of students, merchants and local activists. Organized by UCR Sweeney Art Gallery curatorial team of Tyler Stallings, Shane Shukis, Jennifer Frias, and Georg Burwick, with the assistance of Cosmé Cordova, director of Division 9 Gallery.

Unclutter Your Life!

Don't forget those donations! Opening night price of admission on January 31: one bag full. First Thursday Artwalks, February 5 and March 5, 6-9 PM.
