Activists across the globe on August 8, 2008 held a series of activities as an observation of the 20th anniversary of the popular pro-democracy uprising known as '8888' uprising. On August 8, 1988, student-led protestors put and end to Burma's one party socialist system and demanded for multi-party democracy system.
