  • I distinctly remember this song came out a few months before Penny Lane, which is further proof that the Beatles were thiefs.

  • Don't get me wrong, I love *BOTH* The Beatles and The Rutles, but this is the only time that Neil Innes even outdid Paul's original...

  • This was first released in 1959

  • @SgtRuttersClubBand He was joking I think, but both songs are great!

  • Neil Innes did some amazing work on The Rutles. Anyone can do a straight parody, but Innes did the music more in the style of The Beatles, instead of a beat-for-beat spoof. Thats why songs like Doubleback Alley stands on their own; Its really solid music.

  • @pbrick6301 Slight sense of humour failure there from the original poster - or was it *super-duper-double-irony*?

  • @DerekBayRoberts1 Both of them.

  • Rutles were not made, they were evolved, Barry Wom still lives and works in a pub in cambridge,u.k.

  • Choon!
