  • Any chance of seeing the last bit? I'm intrigued to see how it ended.

  • @harbottle99

That's the end of the film. The only part edited was a minute or so out of the middle.

  • I remember seeing this film in primary school in the early 70s. I always loved Telstar by The Tornadoes and watching this film planted a seed in my head about 'The Glesga Caurs'. I know have various books and models of trams, buses and The Underground. Many thanks Glasgowwest for all your videos. You made me feel old but very happy.

  • 4:58 is still a common scene in Toronto today.

  • @Bigfinlach Trolleybuses were, for a long time, seen as the answer to public transport. They were said to combine the advantages of trams, i.e cheap, clean electric power, with the manouverability of the bus....they could ...to an extent.....move about on the road. But they were routebound just like the tram as they relied on overhead cables and trolley poles to collect the current. Most cities abandoned them in the fifties and sixties.

  • I used to go to school by tram. Woolwich to Red Lion Lane.

These were the days when public transport drivers could smoke while they worked.

  • Thank you for that Glasgowwest. I remember the last night very well even though I was only 4. Argyle Street and St Enoch Sq were packed and it seemed that most of Glasgow had turned out.

  • Magnificent!

  • Tramways are now the future... what if all those networks weren´t closed on the first place? A lot of money saved, and a better public transport for all...

  • Im from Bolton England and have over the last 3 years been visiting Glasgow a lot socially. Glasgow is absolutely fabulous and this film has brought a tear to my eye it is superb. I can't wait till my next visit. xx
