Larry Gaines won this fight. He beat two future world champions in Max Schmelling, 2nd round knockout, and the descision over Primo Carnera. When Schmelling was champ, Gaines was on a big winning streak, but probably because of the color barrier, never got his deserved shot at the time. He was however, as announced, Heavyweight champ of the British Empire, and for a while the Colored heavyweight champion.
