A song parody from the 100th Annual Libel Show at the University of Virginia School of Law to the tune of Mr. Big's immortal "2 Be With U." Masterfully performed by Will Cleveland, the song chronicles the trials and tribulations of an aspiring associate in Big Law.
Lyrics by Request:
In my 1L fall, I was bright eyed and bushy tailed.
Started at UVA, to academic grandeur my dreams sailed.
Brand new laptop, add/drop, I knew that I would reach the top.
Fall grades put my career in question. Legal theory gave me indigestion.
I no longer want to practice law.
In class I play web Win, Lose or Draw.
Lawyering does not rock the Kasbah.
I was a fool to think I'd love the law.
Built back my confidence, when I killed my 2L interviews.
First day on the job, I got assigned to doc review.
Kissing ass. Getting fat, and no window on top of that.
Buying new suits and billing hours. Each day knowing you have to shower.
I no longer want to practice law.
Working at a firm is so bourgeois.
After all the bullshit that I saw,
I was a fool to think I'd love the law.
I no longer want to practice law.
This was is not the lifestyle I foresaw.
This jobs requires me to wear a bra.
And I no longer want to practice law.
I no longer want to practice law.
Practicing the law is blah, blah, blah.
Legal research sticks right in my craw,
and I no longer want to practice law.
