He gave him an easy ride because Ed actually answered the questions!
Paxman only goes after those who try to evade the questions.

Jeremy is a tough nut to crack but we get on even if I can't have sex with him.

He's actually quite likeable here. What on earth happenned?

@jazzx251 Yes, this is probably the smoothest interview I've seen Pax give. Really enjoyed it.

@dezboss I hate what it has become, with so much elitism in charge, so much corruption at the top, an elitist system which still ensures the best and most powerful careers for privately educated wealthy people and a system which corruptly and blindly encourages higher education when there is little demand for even degrees unless they're from certain Universities. This has been caused by making GCES too easy and in a changing world we need more trade skills jobs, not Unis

@TheKenfig I have to admit, I am slowly trying to divorce myself from the UK early enough for me to remain on good terms with the country. I'm only 23, but if I stay here much longer I will start to hate it.
If I leave early enough, my memories will not be too tainted.
-
@dezboss Sorry to sound so bleak, but I say to that, you ain't seen nothin' yet
-
@TheKenfig The tragic thing is that I think you're right, we seem to be on our way back to the dark age.
-
@dezboss You'll be stuck here in the gutter by then
I think your away with the fairies. we have a budget deficit because of the recession, tax receits dried up. making millions unemployed wont help the deficit. My family were immigrants to this country fleeing from nazi europe and ireland during the depression. If you dont do your best to keep people in employment you end up with dire consequences, that would be the real tyranny.

@apollosmurphy Paying managers in a council £30k + protected pension is NOT good value, it is far cheaper for the PRIVATE sector that pays the public sectors wages for that person to be on the dole. The private sector is sinking BECAUSE OF the public sector being so bloody large and out of control.
The public sector paying taxes is only recycling money from gov to worker to gov, round and round. We need private sector to generate wealth for the UK economy, public sector cannot do that.

derr spend not tax thats the point. run up a deficit intil you have stable growth. paying back the deficit is dependant on growth. growth is dependant on consumer confidence/spending. consumer spending is dependant on employment/employment prospects.ie. not wise to put a million people out of work. not hard to grasp. your argument is like a guy standing in a bucket with no handle looking even more stupid!

@apollosmurphy There would be more consumer confidence if there was a proper "normal" recession, the feckless with bad money are run into the ground. Instead, the savers are having their savings and pensions stolen from to prop up the feckless, and the stupid house price asset bubble is still climbing.
The coalition is as bad as Labour in propping up the feckless. The UK is fucked.
The UK needs a proper recession to drive out bad money.
