  • damn that would be like paying double for Avatar on Blu Ray

  • @odog65

A year or so ago I purchased the DVD.

    Less than $20 I think.

  • Is that related to Fotomat, the little buildings that develop pictures.

  • Yes.

I suppose they meant to rent and or sell videos when you went to have your photographs developed.

  • So this Intro is from 'WAR OF THE WORLDS', the Sci-Fi classic from '53! I have that Fotomat release, too. When I watched the tape it didn't have the vertical hold problem so that made for easy viewing! :) Good to see a few Fotomats are still out there working!

  • Fotomats *definitely* had "Stop-Copy"/ copyguard! So did ALLIEDs and Magnetics. The screen always flickers when you stuff a Fotomat tape into your VCR these days; I know of no brand of television that still allows for manual adjustments of the vertical hold. I have 27 Fotomats and only some of them play without the vertical hold problem cropping up. Still, Fotomats are COOL! :)

  • Looks like this tape had "Stop-Copy" on it, as the vertical hold is off. I have a box to get around Macrovision which is much more common, but I can't beat tapes that do this!

  • I just found an old package of Fotomat AG-1B Flash Bulbs in a drawer. I had totally forgotten about Fotomat. Found out they completely closed up shop in 2009, even the website is gone. Gee, I wonder what I could get for these flash bulbs on ebay. After all, they are now considered RARE and VINTAGE by ebay standards. Oops, forgot... ebay has no standards.

  • @mrceleb2006 That's on my VHS of North Avenue Irregulars from Disney (I was lucky to actually find a copy that was once rented out by Fotomat!).

  • Replace fotomat with androbot antd that is my logo

  • Huh,Interesting.I wonder if their even in business anymore, haven't seen one in years.
