School discipline leads teenager to suicide in India

Physical penalties are still widely used by teachers in India, despite being illegal, but the story of a teenager who committed suicide after being caned at school is pushing India to criminalize corporal punishment. The prevalence of corporal punishment in schools is one of India's worst-kept secrets. But the recent suicide of 13-year-old Rouvanjit Rawla has brought the practice out into the open.

These people are not teachers, they are school employees and bad ones at that. They do not understand how children think and in their frustration of not being able to get through to them they resort to violence. Later in an effort to justify their unjustifiable actions they mention a lack of respect on behalf of the children. Well "sirs" and "madams" I have news for you, respect is earned and not established through fear. You have been tested, found lacking and as such have nothing to teach.

When i was in first grade our math teacher hits our hands, let you go outside and made us cary our books the whole period.when u cant answer her question. Thts why until now i am not really interested in math subject and scared to math teachers.

i had been to indian school for one day as a student and the teacher pulled my hair just as I was walking pass him really hard, I swore at him and he said he ill report me to principle, told the principle and she said thats how children learn how to cut hair I mean wtf why should I if I want to keep it long its my choice

i could understand how farked up a school can be. I been thru the same situation where some teachers would cane students in buttocks for no reason. Seriously, when you are in school, there's really no one you can talk to. Even your parents doesnt listen to you, and even if u tell them, they might think that u are whining. All students are good just that if the teacher act like a dictator, thats what u get. Be a cool teacher, and students wont give u any problem
