Collegiate highlights of New England Patriots 2009 3rd round draft pick Brandon Tate. Brandon Tate was drafted number 19 in the 3rd round and number 83 over all.
A WR out of North Carolina Tate finished second in the Atlantic Coast Conference in kick returns and third in punt returns during his true freshman year.
In his sophomore season, Tate was one of only three players in the country to return two kickoffs for touchdowns.
Tate saw more time at wide receiver in his junior season in 2007, ranking first in the ACC with 1,765 all-purpose yards; he also led his team with seven touchdowns.
In his senior season, Tate tore his ACL and MCL in his knee and missed the final eight games of the season. Before the injury, Tate was on pace for an outstanding senior season and set a record for combined return yardage against Miami.
Tate is the NCAA career leader in combined kick/punt return yardage with 3,523 yards. (he broke the record held by former Patriot Deltha O'Neal, who had 3,455 at Cal)
He also is the ACC's all time leader in kickoff returns (109) and kickoff return yardage (2,688).
