Captain Picard's Song (Inner Light) arr. Woodwind Quintet

This is an arrangement of the Ressikan flute melody Captain Picard from "Star Trek: The Next Generation" plays during the episodes "The Inner Light" and "Lessons." The original version is composed by Jay Chattaway.

The melody is quite beautiful; I wanted to arrange it so it could be played on classical quintet instrumentation (flute, oboe, B flat clarinet, French horn, and bassoon).

The piece starts off slowly with flute melody, becomes progressively more involved and dramatic, and closes with a final return to the simple melody on flute and oboe.




Although I do not as yet have a quintet with which to perform / record this, I hope that the electronic instruments will provide a good representation of what the piece is supposed to sound like. The instrument parts are represented by colored circles as follows:

flute - orange
oboe - green
clarinet - blue
French horn - purple
bassoon - pink

I also must disagree with the guy who hates midi..I think that it;s a lovely piece done well...I would also love to hear this on a music box.. so sweet...I guess that it's just not his cup of tea....sad , but he is entitled to his opinion ,and I mine...thats what makes the world we live in so very unique and wonderful
