I hate to be the ignorant one here, but what ever happened to the M5s?

Why did they have to kill the M1-M6s? Thay were the Icon of Metro-North, New Haven, and LIRR! At the MOST they should've come out with entirely new models that share the same body, windows, and overall exterior design with the previous models! Why did the MTA have to ruin a legend?

no the R44/R46's were built after the m1's they were built in 1976. they were called bicentenial cars. and the difference between m1's and m3's are the cab windows. and the horns

I honestly don't see a different between the M1 and M3 as well as the M2,4, and 6

I saw an M8 railcar roll by New Rochelle train station today at about 1pm and I almost shit myself, I couldn't get my phone out to record it in time but I found out it was only a test train on its way back to new haven

@MADSEEN2009 Yeah I also notice that. The interior, extior, and the M3s are only 10 ft larger than the R44,R46.
