Although guest Jeff Birnbaum acknowledged David Axelrod had broken no ethics rules when his former company produced health care reform ads, neither Birnbaum nor Van Susteren noted the difference between Cheney's ties to Halliburton - which gave him a potential financial stake in national policy - and Axelrod's ties to his former ad company, which gives him a potential financial stake in a national campaign, one that he was already waging in the White House.
