My second attempt at animation. The drawings were done in 1970-something. I filmed it on a borrowed movie camera, but didn't have the wherewithal to sync the sound properly back then!
It's set to a Steeleye Span track, which I chose partly for the animation possibilities, but mainly because it has short verses and a long chorus - you see, I had limited time and even more limited resources, so I figured the repeating chorus would save a lot of work.
I could no way afford any kind of half-decent cel material, so I used - clear cooking foil!!!!
Looking at it now I see it as very naive and primitive; if I was doing it now it would be very different.

that was really fun to watch! i absolutely love steeleye span and also really like this song, and the animation does an excellent job of bringing it to life.
i'd really like to see some more steeleye span songs illustrated this way.

This was excellent! I have loved this song (and Steeleye) for many years and was so happy to see this animation that is not only well done, but capture the essence of the song with its joviality. Well done sir!

I love it! Good choice of song! Really neat too that you used 70's era drawings for this 70's era tune! Consider yourself shared/favorited/subscribed to.
