Can anyone tell me what's the point of being a Jew? Isn't it just like saying 'OK folks we started the whole Adam and Eve fairy tale and the Moses and Abraham thing too. It's all a crock and the christians and muslims are just branches from the dumb ass tree that we planted years earlier.
Man and you guys still insist on telling us that that children's story is true!

Many of the stories do seem pointless because one expects some great mystic truth to be revealed at the end. This is because many of the accounts of the Hasidim mystics are passed on from generation to generation by people who do not understand the content of the original. The real understanding of the message of the Besht is to be found in devoted prayer and meditation forgetting everything and just focussing on contacting God within our own inner consciousness.

Agreed rafvrab, if a lecturer was present he/she would surely insist that you 'flesh this one out' a little! Maybe that is what it is to live a life of wisdom.

The Baal Shem Tov stories have a point. Your video doesn't.

...and you're like the end... and they just end... well put.

david lizzo everybody!!!
Neither does Seinfeld, and he's another favorite Jew along with the Baal Shem Tov. The "point" of this video is that it's hard to tell Baal Shem Tov stories because the audience doesn't know when to clap, laugh, etc. The stories are profound enough that they don't have a punchline, something that most audiences like to have.

That's one interpretation...or should I say, "on" interpretation.

He's not comparing Baal Shem Tov stories to other rabbi stories, but rather Baal Shem Tov stories to any story with a defined punchline.
As for the video itself, it just sort of "ends"...it doesn't really have a "point"...more than anything else it is a chance to meet "Lizzo"...
