Help Me Rhonda alternate single version - The Beach Boys. Brian recognized that this song had greater potential after the first recording. He brought back more musicians and added the distinctive "wah-wah-wah" high harmony part. The resulting final mix was labeled "final mono master" on the tape box, but within a few days Brian changed his mind and returned the group to the studio, creating a different set of live overdubs for another try at a final mix which was preferred for the single. This can be found on the "Endless Harmony" CD.

  • GOOD GOSH! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT HIGH REGISTER BACKING VOCAL! Where can you get THIS version? I can understand they might have thought that backing vocal made the song a bit on the novelty side. But it's GREAT!

  • Carl has been loafing for two hours.

  • Endless Harmony soundtrack, d00dz.

  • hey its murray the k wilson the hard ass.great lead by the almost future dentist al jardean.

  • @HSECMAN Who gives a shit what Negron says. Love was with the Beach Boys from the very start and had been harmonizing with Brian for a long time when they hung out. Let me tell you, Mike was an integral part of the band. He was the front man, the lead vocalist. In the early days the only other lead singer was Brian and they'd let Dennis get his one song an album just because he was the good looking one. Onstage, the BB outside of Mike had absolutely zilch stage presence.

  • @bradcash1 al jardine didnt get nearly the credit he deserved-i always thought that was carl singing when it was actually al. he was a great lead singer

  • @widdyhabb to quote chuck negron (ex three dog night singer) in "three dog nightmare", mike love manipulated and bullied brian into getting a job that no other band in their right mind would have ever allowed-lead singer in a band. so im not the only one who thinks love is a poser

  • was that the wilson's dad speaking between the verses and in the floating picture? and did he call carl "dear?"

  • I love how everyone uses this song as an argument starter and talent judge between Brian and Mike....and Al Jardine is the one singing lead, and doing a great job. Love the music. Thanks for the post.

  • I love the wah wah wah too..I would have opted for this version ...much better!!

  • I love the "wah wah, wah wah wah"! Brian's voice is incredible and for him to think of that is wildly genius!

  • Agree with MattHatter: first time I heard this the falsetto blew me away! This should have been the single; without Brian on top during the Chorus it is redundant Mike. Another smilish example of Brian as the pioneer, and Mike/Capitol as the staid, unchanging establishment.

Rock On, Brian! He's the Gift who keeps giving. 50 years! Rock On!
