Someone requested more from this gig, so here's DLM playing Test Match Special, and discussing their nervousness about having to perform it on the show of the same name...

  • Thanks Sighkid - yep, you're right re: playlist... although I reckon they did "Gentlemen & Players" - did you get that?

I must admit to being a bit thick too - til I saw Freddie announcing his retirement today on Sky it hadn't even occurred to me as to why there was a cricket-related (extra) track called "Pedalo" on the album!

Yes - saw the PIMLIC0C0' version of the ball encounter. Ouch!! Anyway, thankyou again for recording a memorable evening - I, for one, much appreciated it. Cheers. John

  • Yep they played Gentlemen and Players, but the only version I recorded was the soundcheck one. I'm not sure I should put it up here since Neil seemed a bit irritated about having to soundcheck in public, and it might be considered adding insult to injury...

I wasn't familiar with the Flintoff / pedalo incident till after I found out about the song, but then again I'm not really a huge cricket fan I guess.

  • Sighkid, you are a star - my favourite track from the evening (I think they did the DLM whole album except the Nightwatchman & Pedalo didn't they?)

Cheers so much for an unexpected but very welcome record of a great - impromptu - night!!

...And may I say great camera work too!! Especially with cricket balls flying around...

    Ta

    Alvore

  • Glad you liked the videos :) I think they did all but 3 tracks from the album - they skipped "Rain Stops Play", "Nightwatchman" and "Flatten the Hay". (They didn't do "Pedalo" either, like you say, but since that's only on the iTunes version and not my CD copy, I don't consider it a proper track anyway :P )

But yeah, it was an entertaining evening - I was luckier than some when it came to the balls - check out PIMLIC0C0's video of that...
